Retriever Trial Results for the
2025-26 Season

Stake 301 Novice (1) Trial 13th October 2025

On Monday 13th October 2025, we held our first trial of the season, a novice trial on the Cokenach Estate, in north Hertfordshire, by kind permission of the estate owners and Kenneth Grant Esq.

Our Cambridgeshire Field Trial Society cups for this trial were:

The Eric Simpson Memorial Cup for the Winner

The J Farrow Silver Pheasants for Guns’ Choice

The Stetchworth Trophy for the Best Black Labrador Bitch

The Society also gave prize money for 1st to third place. 

Our judges for the day were Mrs Glynis Hillier (A 2280), Mr Peter Hurst (B927), Mr Robert Clitheroe (NP) and Mr Mick Elsey (NP3698), an excellent team who worked well together, giving us a great result

The results are as follows

First - Andrew Mutimer with Gingerfox Vanguard Of Kanzanglaze taking the Eric Simpson Memorial Cup and Guns' Choice.

Second - Matthew Shetliffe with Lanefoot Bailey Of Bobernwood

Third - Harriet Newcombe with Idawood Lace Of Galicombe taking the Stetchworth Trophy for the Best Black Labrador Bitch

Stake 303 Two Day Open Trial 3rd & 4th November 2025

Our two day open trial was held at Ampton Estate, by kind permission of Peter Rushbrook.

Our judges over the two days were John Halsted (A1868),  Adam Holmes (B3913), David Field (A2257) and Rodger Ketley (A2815). 

Sarah and Gertie too, were later awarded – The Bob Baldwin Memorial Trophy for the Best Dog on a Runner or Best Retrieve for a retrieve on a live partridge on the first day. Was also awarded guns choice taking JW Farrow Cup for Guns’ Choice

First - Anna Mayhew with FTCH Wauniago Dara and taking home the following trophies

· The Chippenham Cup for the Best Dog handled by the owner

· The Neilson Challenge Cup to the Winner

Guns' Choice and Best Dog on a Runner were awarded to Sarah Gadd with FTCH Brindlebay Gertie Too Of Birdsgreen

Stake 303 Novice (2) Trial 9th December 2025

Our third trial was held at the Ampton Estate, Suffolk by kind permission of Mr Peter Rushbrooke.

The trial was walked up in a cover crop, with 14 dogs competing for the Cambridge Town & County Challenge Cup.

Keeping the line in order was the lovely, Alan Hammond supported by a couple of stops to push the birds in, though the cover held an excellent number of birds.

Our judges were Mr Mike Tallamy (A1925), Mr Peter Fulcher (B2618), Mr Adam Snare (NP) & Mr Steve Coxell (NP5072). 

First - Reuben Corbett with Birdsgreen Kruggerrand Of Sussexsharp, also awarded Guns' Choice

Second - Louie Robertson with Mitforton Kindred.

Stake 304 Novice (3) Trial 15th January 2026

Monday 5th January, 2026, the society held our 304th Retriever stake, a novice one for 12 dogs at Sutton, Woodbridge, Suffolk by kind permission of Mr James Foskett and Sutton Sporting.

Our judges were Mr Kevin Doughty (A32), Mr Paul Wheeler (B3904), Mrs Fiona Joint (NP3227) & Mrs Karen Hurst (NP).

The results are as follows:

First - Lee Harmer with Delfleet Pied Wagtail

Second - Peter Fulcher with Southgreen Vounder

Third - Kate Bollen with Mossybottom Stoats Tail At Wephamdown, also taking Guns' Choice
